Greenwood Mississippi FSS Out of Service

As a result of Hurricane Katrina, the Greenwood Mississippi Flight Service Station (AFSS) is currently out of service. The FSS has no operating phones or power and the backup generators have failed. Meanwhile all calls are being routed to other nearby FSS stations.

Honeywell ( Bendix / King ) Employees Face Layoffs

Honeywell International is currently undergoing restructuring that could impact as many as 2,000 of the company’s 42,000 aerospace employees. The reorganization is expected to be complete by the end of the year and could impact up to five percent of Honeywell’s employees.

Seen a Mysterious Fuel Truck Near Kentucky Recently?

The FBI is currently searching for a fuel truck missing near Greenville, Kentucky. The truck contained nearly 2,000 gallons of Jet-A aviation fuel when it went missing last week from Muhlenberg County Airport. The truck is a 1969 Ford F-800 with a Shell Oil Company logo. The truck is white with a stainless steel tank.

NTSB Chairman Dissapointed with FAA Decision Regarding Seatbelts

NTSB Acting Chairman Mark Rosenker today expressed disappointment at the FAA’s refusal to require effective action to ensure that infants and toddlers under age 2 are safely restrained on airliners.
The FAA has announced that it will not require the use of approved child restraints but will allow their use on a strictly voluntary basis.
