Greenwood Mississippi FSS Out of Service

by Mr. Flight on August 31st, 2005

As a result of Hurricane Katrina, the Greenwood Mississippi Flight Service Station (AFSS) is currently out of service. The FSS has no operating phones or power and the backup generators have failed. Meanwhile all calls are being routed to other nearby FSS stations.

Many air to ground radio frequencies are out of service as well as many air traffic control facilities in the area. A TFR has been implemented for much of the area so that rescue aircraft can have clear access to the area.
