General Aviation Allowed Back into Reagan
Yup, that is what one headline said this morning…. hardly the truth. The charter company will need to be on a pre-approved list of charter companies that have passed a security audit, take-off from one of 12 approved airports, carry an armed air martial on board, and passenger lists need to be provided to the TSA 24 hours in advanced. Only 48 arrivals and departures will be allowed each day.
So to say general aviation is coming back to Reagan National Airport…. I don’t think you are going to get there in your 152 anytime soon. Even some of the biggest charter companies think it is too much trouble.
“The process itself is still just too burdensome for our customers,” says George-Ann Rosenberg, spokeswoman for Bombardier Skyjet, a large charter operator.
