General Aviation at Reagan 10 Days Later

by Mr. Flight on October 28th, 2005

It has now been ten days since General Aviation aircraft have been allowed to fly back into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. I was wondering how things have been going.

Well, a few days ago we talked about the severe regulations in effect. It appears those regulations are just too severe for even the biggest business jets to consider.

Prior to the ban about 120 private aircraft used the airport each day. Since GA was allowed back into Reagan ten days ago, only one aircraft has come back in.

“Our customers are telling us the rules are too onerous, and that’s evident by the lack of arrivals,” said Joe Gibney, spokesman for Signature Flight Support at Reagan.

“They’ve got so many rules it’s like the ban is still in place,” said Dan Kidder, spokesman for the National Air Transportation Association
