Small Twin = Gulfstream IV

by Mr. Flight on November 28th, 2005

There it was, the headline on the CNN homepage:

>A small, twin-engine plane carrying White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card made an emergency landing in Nashville on Saturday after smoke began pouring into the cockpit.

Gulfstream-Iv“Wow” I thought. Is Andrew Card flying around in in a Piper Twin Comanche or Beech Duchess? Nope. What the AP called a “small twin” was actually a Gulfstream IV Jet.

Everyone made it back to terra-firma just fine. This is the latest in what has been several recent “emergency” landings covered by the media. Hopefully these precautionary landings don’t become the successor to live car chases.
