WAAS Down to 200 Feet

by Mr. Flight on March 10th, 2006

The FAA announced this week that the WAAS system is being extended from 250 feet AGL down to 200 feet for instrument approaches. Commercial operators with WAAS equipment will be able to get the equivalent of a Cat I approach where there is no ILS.

“This is a significant milestone, moving us closer to our ultimate goal of a satellite-based airspace system,” said FAA Administrator Marion C. Blakey.

The new procedures will be published in 2007.
