GlobalFlyer Makes Last Flight

by Mr. Flight on May 24th, 2006

Yesterday the GlobalFlyer made its last flight. Steve Fossett took off from Salina, Kansas and flew the legendary plane to Washington DC. The GlobalFlyer will be donated to the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

Although the GlobalFlyer is retired, Steve Fossett says he has aviation records he still wants to set, most likely glider altitude records. It has been a great time following the GlobalFlyer and I’m glad I got to see it fly a couple hundred feet over my head…. something I’ll not likely forget.
