Shuttle Delayed until Tomorrow

by Mr. Flight on September 6th, 2006

The launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis has been delayed until tomorrow. A malfunctioning part which I wouldn’t dare even try to explain or understand was the cause of the delay. According to NASA:

due to a problem that occurred Tuesday night during the activation of one of the shuttle’s three electricity-producing fuel cells. A spike and drop in voltage was noticed on fuel cell number one. Troubleshooting is ongoing, and the problem has been isolated to a coolant pump that helps cool the fuel cell system.

NASA is meeting as this very moment to review the problem and make an assessment.
