Garmin G1000 Simulator?

The latest release of X-Plane (currently 8.50 RC-1) has built in support to use a real Garmin G1000 connected to the simulator! The G1000 has an ethernet port that you can use to connect the Garmin to your computer. Then from within X-Plane you can turn on the hardware option for the G1000 and use […]

Volunteer for Simulated Mars Mission?

The Russian Space Agency is soliciting volunteers who would like to experience what it might be like to travel to Mars and back. Sound like fun? Well be prepared to give up 520 days of your life for the experience. To qualify you must be between 25 and 50 (I’m good there) and you get […]

Laminar Research, the authors of X-Plane, have developed a new simulator for the Avidyne PFD called AvioApp. AvioApp is a separate program which can connect to X-Plane over a LAN and simulates the Avidyne PFD.

The show will focus on Burt Rutan and SpaceSchipOne in their attempt […]

X-Plane Design Contest for Popular Mechanics

This email came in from Austin, the author of X-Plane. I thought I would pass it along here for any X-Plane Plane builders that might not subscribe to xplane-news. I’d love to enter something myself but I doubt I will have enough free time before the Feb 28 deadline.
Popular Mechanics is getting ready to do […]

VATSIM announced last week they have removed voice restrictions in VATSIM to make it the preferred method of communications with controllers. This allows all controllers ranked S1 and above to use voice whenever practical and no longer requiring “voice ratings”. The effective date of change will be March 13.

Flight Simulator X - X-Plane

Pardon the short, inconsequential post but I find it humorous that X-Plane is currently in the number 1 position on Google when you search for flight simulator x. You can see it
